Creed Lane Law Group Training Contract Application

Creed Lane Law Group
8 Creed Lane
St Paul's

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have completed a qualifying law degree at the University of [university] with an upper second class grade in [year]. I am interested in undertaking a training contract with Creed Lane Law Group.

I would like to train at Creed Lane Law Group because I am attracted by the high quality of work undertaken by the firm and its prestigious client base. This, coupled with the firm’s small size and collegiate culture, will present me with a hands-on experience and high-quality work. The firm’s ability to provide seamless solutions to clients internationally makes it an exciting place to work at because it will expose me to interesting and sophisticated cross-border work which will improve my knowledge of international markets and how different jurisdictions interact. I find the firm’s expertise across a spectrum of practice areas very attractive because it will provide me with an opportunity to experience a varied workload and come to an informed decision as to what area I would like to qualify into. Likewise, the firm’s strong expertise in a range of sectors will develop my understanding of the challenges and opportunities clients face in their respective industries which will consolidate my commercial awareness and enable me to provide cutting-edge solutions.

I want to become a solicitor because every day is varied, challenging and engaging. At university, I enjoyed applying and manipulating law to hypothetical scenarios during my modules and mooting competitions because it stimulated my intellectual curiosity since every situation was never the same and required a different approach. As commercial matters span many areas of law, industries and borders, they demand the application of lateral thinking and extensive problem-solving. In turn, this would see me work in integrated teams with a commercial focus on the problem in a quick-paced environment with approaching deadlines. At [law firm] , I especially enjoyed working in teams across different time zones to solve commercial problems. This produced more interesting work, greater variety and a wider group of experts to learn from which made my work environment stimulating and rewarding.

I am commercially aware and possess very strong client-facing and communication skills which will enable me to work with clients to understand their requirements and deliver effective solutions. At [law firm] , I worked very closely with a [language] high-net-worth individual. I delivered an exceptional service by forging a successful rapport with the client and demonstrated a thorough understanding of the core issues as well as cultural empathy. At [law firm], I acted as a central port of contact for a [language] client operating in the natural resources sector. I accompanied the firm’s partners to all client meetings, a board of directors EGM in Amsterdam and liaised with the client via email and phone around the clock. I demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment at all times by taking a keen interest in the client’s business and aligned all my work with their commercial requirements. I handled large levels of responsibility with professionalism and developed resilience to pressure and tight time scales. When the supervising partner was out of the country, I successfully briefed another partner on the case and communicated succinctly to explain the core issues which allowed the partner to make all the relevant decisions in a timely manner.

I am very enthusiastic, entrepreneurial and focused which will allow me to bring new perspectives to the table and use my initiative to add value to my work. At university, I have established an amateur [sport] club for the first time in fifty years, despite strong opposition from the university, by developing a new approach and thinking about problems creatively.

I believe that my linguistic abilities as well as my cultural empathy will allow me to thrive at Creed Lane Law Group and serve as a valuable contribution towards the firm’s objectives and growth.

I thank you for your consideration and look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,
