How to Write a Legal Letter (Examples)
Here are a couple of examples of how to properly write a legal letter. These letters were taken from a correspondence chain regarding a car accident legal matter.

Dear Claims Department,
In response to your letter, dated 24 February 2015, you state that the third party insurance company has
“…no other option but to deal with the third party claim. We have also contacted the third party insurance company, and they advised that they are still seeking to claim from us as no other company has been dealing with their client's claim”.
According to [name], the driver with whom he was involved in the accident, was not insured at the time of the accident. Following [name]’ written request, the third-party insurance company blatantly ignored [name] valid request and failed to supply any evidence demonstrating that the person involved in the accident was insured at the time of the event. Instead, the insurance company instructed [name] to transfer a sum of money into the bank account of an unknown person who was not a participant or in any way involved in the accident. This demonstrates the absurdity of the third-party insurance company’s claim “from us”. In fact, this demonstrates the underhand and fraudulent acts of the third-party insurance company that purposefully ignored [name]’ request knowing full well that the person driving the car was not insured. Furthermore, the third party insurance company fraudulently attempted to extract money from [name] by asking him to transfer a sum of money into a private account. I therefore feel that the claim from the third party is

Dear Claims Department,
In response to your letter, dated 6 March 2015, you assert that the “third party vehicle is insured so they have a right to claim”. I strenuously disagree with this statement because whilst the vehicle itself may have been insured, the actual drive who I believe was the spouse of the insurance holder, was not covered by the insurance policy for the reasons set out in my previous correspondence to you. In this respect, the person or the third party that was operating the vehicle at the time of the accident was doing so illegally (i.e. driving without insurance). For this reason, I cannot see how the third party can bring a valid claim against the incident involving [name] because in doing so, the third party will be and is already committing insurance fraud. Please note that I will use all my endeavours to expose this apparent insurance fraud and your potential complicity in it.
You assert that you will be dealing with this claim under my insurance policy as “as [I] have allowed the named driver, who was not insured under [my] policy, to drive [my] vehicle”. This statement is unsubstantiated since I did not admit to allowing [name] to drive my vehicle. As far as this case is concerned, I would like to ask you to deal with [name] and his affairs separately from this claim since there is absolutely no nexus between me and [name]. This case has already caused me substantial stress and financial loss. Please note that should you wish to protract it unduly, I will have no resort but to increase the value of the claim against yourselves in the English courts of law.
Yours sincerely,

Dear Claims Department,
In response to your letter, dated 13 February 2015, in order to obtain evidence that my friend’s “insurers are dealing with the third party claim”, I strongly suggest that you get in touch with the insurers who approached you regarding the incident as they will be in the best position to update you on the status of the claim. I trust that you have the details of the insurance company that first approached you in relation to this claim.
It is my understanding that the outstanding claim on my car is not being pursued any further, which provides sufficient and adequate evidence that this matter is being dealt with by an car insurance company other than yourselves.
I look forward to your response and trust that you will be able to obtain the required information and rightfully remove the lien from my “no claims” bonus.
Yours sincerely,
